Lol I hear you! It does feel a bit gimmicky. Post-Charli XCX and brat, I feel like there’s even more pressure to make an album release a weeks-long event. Charli’s was special, although I feel like it’s now wearing out its very long welcome.
Thanks for the tip! I learned since writing this post first draft that Halsey is half black (which I edited to mention). I love that she honored Aaliyah but I’m sure a lot of people don’t (or didn’t) know Halsey is biracial. It’s a tough one, for sure. I’m sure she struggled with this one.
pretty sure halsey has spoken about being a white passing biracial person in the past. will def be interesting to see their approach, if any, to cosplaying black artists in this campaign.
